Who is the Roman god of the sea?
Pre-Constantine, the Romans were a pretty devout polytheistic society. Not only did they worship a multitude of gods, each household had its own shrine. Neighborhoods also often had their own deities and temples. Altogether, historians believe there were at least 67 Roman gods, not to mention a multitude of demigods.
One could also argue they just really liked to have days off, with some 40 religious festivals on the Roman calendar each year — and those were just the official ones.
