What's the main character's name in the original "Quantum Leap"?

Premiering in 1989, "Quantum Leap" is kind of a perfect show. First of all, it’s got the sci-fi element as a physicist travels through time. The catch? The only way he can travel is by “leaping” into other people’s bodies, he can’t leave until he solves some problem in that time, and he has partial amnesia and can’t really remember how even got in this mess.
Second of all, you have the repeatability of the format. You can set it in any time, anywhere in the world, over and over again as many damn times as you like. For the original series, that meant exactly five seasons and 97 episodes. You really never knew where things would end up, and it was always a kick with the main character would end up in the body of a teenager or a woman or something unexpected like that.
While it’s recently been rebooted, we’re talking about the OG series. What’s the name of the main character?
