Let’s cut to the chase: One of the main reasons we find dinosaurs so interesting is because they’re just so big. Standing under a T-Rex skeleton at the Natural History Museum is impressive and humbling all at once.

Whether you’re a fan of the long-necks, horny types, or the carnivores, those giant lizards ruled the planet for way, way longer than humans have even been vaguely kind of around in any form whatsoever. And don’t even get me started on the fact that Brontosaurus and T-Rex didn’t actually ever live at the same time.

Put all the eras together, and dinosaurs ruled the Earth for over 165 million years. We’re still finding out about species we never knew existed, and I’m sure we’ll keep discovering new ones. But based on what we know as of today, there are some pretty impressive and kind of unbelievable facts about these creatures.

Even among the lizard kings, one stood above them all, literally. Who was the tallest dino?
