Who was the lead singer of the band Genesis before Phil Collins?

You have to feel for kids in the early ‘90s who didn’t understand that the Genesis their parents talked about had nothing to do with the Genesis that they asked for on their Christmas list. Just to be clear, one is an English rock band, the other is a video game console developed by Sega.
And in this case, we’re talking about the band, active in one form or another from roughly 1967 up until 2022 (with a few gaps in there, to get technical). While they started young, the band didn’t truly gain steam until a young man known as Phil Collins started singing, and it wasn’t until their ninth studio album in 1978 that they finally landed a true hit with "Follow You Follow Me".
Of course, Phil Collins also launched a highly successful solo career, eventually leaving the band in 1996. Before Collins, the band had another singer who would also go on to success elsewhere — who was it?

Correct Answer: Peter Gabriel
The answer is: Peter Gabriel. Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins in the same band? Yep, it happened even if they never overlapped, which would have created some kind of pop-music tear in the universe. Collins had actually already been recruited by Gabriel to join the band as the drummer before taking on lead vocals. You do have to feel for the other guys in the band whose names no one really remembers.Source
