Hollywood loves recycling alien invasion stories almost as much as aliens love probing humans. The 1950s gave us some iconic extraterrestrial classics that filmmakers keep remaking decades later. "Stargate" is the only original alien film among these sci-fi staples. While Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin's 1994 hit spawned multiple TV series and a devoted fanbase, the other films are remakes of 1950s classics. The movie actually started as Emmerich's college thesis film idea about ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs coming to life - he just needed $55 million more than his student budget to make it happen.
