Which actor holds the record for most weight gained for a movie role?

Actors do some crazy sh** for their movies.

Daniel Day-Lewis is notorious for his extreme brand of method acting. On the set of 1989’s My Left Foot, he refused to do anything that his character couldn’t do. Based on the real-life artist Christy Brown, whose cerebral palsy meant his left foot was the only part of his body he could control, that meant Day-Lewis had to be carted around by staff in a wheelchair — and even fed by hand.

Tom Cruise has held on to the side of a plane and scaled the exterior of the world’s tallest building, just for some Mission Impossible scenes.

And then, you have the weight changers — those actors who distort their bodies in the name of art. We’re not just talking about someone getting shredded because they got cast in an MCU movie, we’re talking hardcore acting freaks who put their health on the line so we can kick back and barely notice their hard work while downing 48 ounces of soda and spilling popcorn all over the place.

This actor went the distance and then some. Who holds the record for gaining the most weight for a movie role?
