What was the first Disney movie released on DVD?

I remember when I bought my first DVD player — for just a couple hundred bucks, I got what was probably the worst one available on the market. But I didn't care. It felt like magic to be watching a movie on a disc.
No rewinding anymore? Are you kidding me?!
And honestly, I might be headed back to DVDs now that streaming services are apparently just removing content and taking it away from you even if you paid for it.
As distributors began to release movies in the new format, it was only a matter of time before Disney followed suit. But with all of the legendary titles in their collection, which one got the digital video disc treatment first?

Correct Answer: Mary Poppins
The answer is: Mary Poppins. Despite originally coming out in 1964, Disney bestowed the honor of entering the age of DVDs with everyone’s favorite nanny, Mary Poppins. We’d been singing along to her songs about shoveling sugar into our gullets and mumbling through Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious since it was released on VHS in the ‘80s, but in 1998 we could finally see (and hear) this classic in its true glory.Source
