What is Walker’s first name on "Walker, Texas Ranger"?

Chuck Norris facts took over the internet in the mid-2000s with claims that he could count to infinity twice and delete files off a hard drive by staring at them. The memes were technically about the actor, but the mythology was really about the Texas Ranger he played for nine seasons on CBS. The last name stuck in the culture, but the first name slipped. What was Walker's first name on "Walker, Texas Ranger"?

Correct Answer: Cordell
The rule on "Walker, Texas Ranger" seemed to be that only men who'd personally saved Walker's life in Vietnam were allowed to use his first name, which narrowed it down to exactly one guy. Noble Willingham's retired Capt. C.D. Parker called him Cordell, usually with a beer in hand. Norris was a real karate world champion before Hollywood got to him, which is half the reason the mid-2000s could sell him as a man who could roundhouse kick through concrete. Every "Chuck Norris doesn't sleep, he waits" punchline was really a joke about Cordell.
