The name Elisabeth Shue, for many of us, is synonymous with a leisurely afternoon catching a movie sometime in the 1980s.
From the highly underrated Adventures in Babysitting to a couple of Back to the Futures to her breakout in 1984’s The Karate Kid, it seems that acting must have always been in her bones. But it turns out she was actually kind of well-to-do smarty pants, and only discovered acting for commercials as a way to help pay for college. In fairness, you could tell she was fancy as soon as you realized she spelled Elisabeth with an S and not a Z.
And despite the fact she would play high schooler Ali Mills, Shue was actually just one semester shy of getting her degree when she withdrew from classes so she could watch people sweep the leg. In fact, it was one of those hoity toity universities she shunned to become an ‘80s star. Which school was it?
