Happy National Fudge Day! If you’re not a big fan of eating fudge, you can totally use it in some puns. If you’re a dad, I’d highly recommend shouting “what the fudge?!” at some point today.

June 16 in Nerd History
Here are 5 things that happened on June 16 that matter to those of us who do NOT just wanna fly.
I.
Birthdays of honor: The Ultimate Warrior (1959), Tupac Shakur (1971), John Cho (1972), Joyce Carol Oates (1938).
II.
In 1911 the company that would become known as IBM was founded — except back then it was called the Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company. They would compute things, tabulate them, and uh, record them. Thankfully, they changed to the much more specific name “International Business Machines” in 1924.
III.
In 1978 Grease was released in all its glory, going on to become the highest-grossing movie of that year.

In 1989, Ghostbusters II hit theaters, and in 1995 Batman Forever threw every star of the day into a melting pot only to have Seal’s “Kiss from a Rose” be the best thing from the movie.
IV.
In 1972 The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars by David Bowie was unleashed on the world. “Starman” is the best song. Deal with it.
V.
In 1993 a gallon of gas would have run you about $1.09 and a decent VCR would have been close to $250 or higher.
